Morzine is a traditional and picturesque Savoyard alpine village. It is located in the stunning Portes du Soleil, a world-class ski area, only 75 minutes from Geneva. France on one side, Switzerland on the other, a system of 220 lifts and 650 kilometres of groomed piste makes Les Portes du Soleil the most extensive and expansive lift-connected ski region in the world.
The Village
'Chocolate box' chalets with hand-carved façades fill Morzine village, which happily still retains its old-fashioned charm. It has an appealing array of shops and boutiques specialising in sporting goods, gifts and local produce.
Morzine also has plenty of ski or snowboard alternatives including snowmobiling, tobogganing, ice skating, swimming (during the summer), rock and ice climbing. Wednesday evenings can be spent with the national league champion ice hockey team - the 'Morzine Penguins'.
The après- ski scene in Morzine offers an exciting range of bars to suit all age groups, cafes, restaurants and nightclubs. For those wanting to make a night of it, the Dixie Bar and Le Crepu are a must.
